MAKE A DIFFERENCE AWARDS

Last night our Chair of Trustees won The Fundraiser Award at the BBC Leicester 2024 Make a Difference awards.

the fundraiser award - gemma orton

Freddie is the son of Gemma and Dave Orton and older brother to Harry.

The Orton Family have been a huge part of everything we do at The Bodie Hodges Foundation and have been instrumental in our growth in recent years.

Gemma is a wonderfully passionate Chair of Trustees who has given so much time to help and guide us as the charity has grown and Dave has thrown himself into the charity getting involved in many fundraising events, including the Global Marathon Challenge where he supported and travelled as part of the team to help ensure everyone stayed injury free.

We are so proud of all of them and the strength they have shown since Freddie died and their passion to raise the awareness of our bereavement services.

It goes without saying that the compassion, empathy and care that they show is reflected by both of their wonderful boys. Freddie, although only 7, really got it, he understood the importance of why his Mummy and Daddy would dedicate so much time to wanting to help others who really needed it.

Freddie would get involved in any event possible. He particularly loved taking part in the Santa Fun Run which we renamed in his honour in 2023 and is now known as Freddie’s Festive Fun Run

Freddie was a walking, talking advert for the Bodie Hodges Foundation as he was rarely seen without his Bodie beanie hat or Bodie hoodie.

We have seen how Freddie has continued to make a big difference to so many people and his kind and caring nature continues to radiate down on us all.

We want to thank Freddie for his incredible enthusiasm for the charity and well, for just being Freddie.

The Bodie Hodges Foundation continues to #BeMoreFreddie everyday x
